My feedback is about the Inpatient surgical ward 12a care of my elderly relative. I found that staff are generally efficient but some defensive attitude when constructive comments made. staff did not sit patients up to have meals in bed but simply put tray in front of them. I think that nursing staff should ensure patients are sat up in bed or out of bed in chair. I observed one staff nurse wearing gloves to give medication but did not wash hands or change gloves between three patients. Patient was meant to have rehab on surgical ward but did only receive physio on at best alternate days Patient told on two occasions to pass urine into her inco pad as they were too busy to attend. Deputy sister informed but it happened 3 times.
