"I had been recommended by my GP to ring..."

About: The East Riding Community Hospital

What I liked

I had been recommended by my GP to ring the hospital for an appointment for an x ray, I rang the hospital around 13.00 hrs and my call was answered by a very pleasant receptionist indeed, i was asked questions in a very friendly manner and was not made to feel that my call was an intrusion on her day. I was asked if an appointment at 15.50 the same afternoon (3/8/10) would be convenient which of course it certainly was, In a time now where you have to wait weeks and weeks and take time off work this was a pleasant shock.

I Arrived at the hospital at 3.15 apologising for my early arrival but had wanted to avoid the tea time rush from Cottingham, once again nothing but pleasantness and an assurance that i would be seen before my appointment time, which i didnt expect as it was down to myself that i had arrived early. I was called in for my x ray by a very friendly nurse and once again treat in a very kindly manner, after the x ray i was asked to wait a few moments whilst they checked all was ok. I was told within minutes i could go as all was ok and the results would be sent to my doctor.

In this day and age where everyone is in a rush and too busy to be pleasant or even speak to you at all this was exceptional. Even an ordinary x ray can make you worried as going to a hospital seems daunting but none of that at all, and I found the whole experience delightful and refreshing

considering it was a hospital vist.

We accept so many bad manners and rudeness nowadays as a matter of course and tend to paint everyone with the same brush but not in this case.

A wonderful staff, a lovely hospital and a very relaxing but positive atmosphere , what a loss this would be if we lost this lovely hospital that sadly takes you back to more pleasanter times.

Thankyou .

Ann Abel
