"BEP clinic"

About: Whiston Hospital / Maternity care

I had a miscarriage at approximately 10.5 weeks into my first pregnancy. I had 2 Very different experiences at my 2 appointments at this clinic.

At the first appointment I was seen be 3 people, only 2 of whome introduced themselves to me. The first as a student who was going to perform my scan. This didn't go well and the senior staff member had to take over.

I would have preferred to be asked in private by the senior member of staff if I was OK with the scan being performed by a student. I don't find it appropriate that I didn't feel like I had a choice in this.

Despite there being 3 members of staff there I don't feel like I was given much information or help in digesting the news that I was indeed having a miscarriage, I only asked one question and the answer was minimal and did not prepaid me for what was to come.

My second appointment was the polar opposite of my first. After the first appointment I was temped no to go to the second but I'm glad I did. The member of staff was professional and made me feel better about the whole situation. They did a very thorough scan and talked me through everything they were seeing. They gave me lots of information and answered my questions (some before I'd even asked them).
