About: Cheltenham General Hospital

What could be improved

This refers to care received on the Acute Stroke Unit in Cheltenham General Hospital in July 2010:

Staff attitude to older adults is dismissive and neglectful. Older adults are ignored. Nurses ignore call buzzers for long periods of time (for example 45 minutes). This is dangerous for those who are recently admitted in acute stages of stroke and should in any case be being monitored. Nurses are rude to older adults and inconsiderate when asked for help they may need when paralysed by stroke. I would never use this hospital again and would not recommend it to anyone. I observed dangerous practices on this ward and suggest that the hospital thoroughly investigates the clinical standards.
