What could be improved
The staff had an air of nonchalance about them, as if they weren't too interested in the actual task at hand and it was just another mundane day at the office, instead of looking after patients. Whilst in a room changing after being examined, I emerged from behind the curtains to find a nurse casually texting. If we have to switch our phones off, shouldn't they as well?
During an examination the instructions were short and sharp; "breathe in." "hold your breath." "breathe out." - again seeming like it's just the job, and actual care for the patient is optional at best.
I was told I would be consulted about dates I was available for an examination, this was a lie. I received a phonecall a few days beforehand instructing me to come in on a certain date, and when I told them I was unavailable the woman on the phone sounded as if it was a great inconvenience to her personally, and I should drop my plans (which just so happened to be an A-Level exam) so it suits them.
Overall I would like to see staff more interested in what they're doing. Especially with cardiology many machines are involved, radiation from mobile phones could drastically change a result, higher authorities should be more strict about that.
More compassion is also required. I understand they see many patients everyday but I'm seriously considering transferring to another hospital as I feel unwelcomed, I feel like a burden upon their lives and that doesn't allow for relaxation and subsequently a valid measurement cannot be taken.
