"Rehabilitation following Guillain-Barre Syndrome"

About: Amersham Hospital

(as the patient),

I had suffered Guillain-Barre syndrome and was admitted (March 2017) to the Bucks Neuro Rehabilitation Unit for a programme of physio- and occupational-therapy. On admission, I was essentially quadriplegic and so I really was a "high dependent patient". It took three Healthcare Assistants/Nurses to roll me over to clean me up. You can imagine how traumatic that was! I am especially grateful for the respect and compassion all of the Healthcare Assistants and Nurses showed me. They were brilliant. My body also responded really well to the rehabilitation therapy and after about 10 weeks, I left the unit walking unaided.
