"I can't fault the care they gave me"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was very ill on a Sunday morning and spent 3. 5 hrs in the lovely depeartment that is ED.

The staff were amazing and made me feel fully involved in my care, informed and treated with dignity at all times.

Whilst waiting for an X-ray there was an emergency the nurses had to attend to. Staff kept coming back to me to ask if I was ok.

I was transferred to RAU MORTON ward where I was greeted by a team of nurses who introduced themselves and explained why would be happening.

A cup of tea was offered straight away: )

Whilst in the ward the ward waitress was fabulous, always checking I was eating, had fresh water and generally making chit chat about me and my family. I treasure to the ward.

HCA's all willing to help and again spoke to me regularly. Kept my dignity at all times.

RN's and jr sisters were amazing a credit to the NHS and the city hospital. They were approachable, calming and professional at all times.

The only small down side was the toilet not always being clean but a busy ward with many elderly people can be hard to keep clean. This doesn't take away from cleanliness of the rest of the ward and hand hygiene of the staff.

I myself am a RN and experiencing the other side of the NHS has been a welcomed surprised. I am very proud to be part of this profession and this hospital.

ED gets a lot of bad press and I can't fault the care they gave me in any way. From the nurses to the very professional doctor who looked after me you were super!

Thanks so much for taking the time to feedback your experience in our care. I will pass your comments onto the team, including the comments regarding the toilet cleanliness, so that we can make improvements where it is necessary to do so.

Best wishes,

Jane Newton, Matron.
