"Attending A&E for heart problem"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

My husband was referred by is GP with a heart abnormality. When he arrived he told the nurse at reception that his heart rate was up and his chest tight. She checked his pulse and took him straight through to Resus. Immediately a nurse introduced herself and took his medical history. She then performed an ecg and some bloods were taken. The A&E registrar then came to see him confirmed his medical history and checked his current medication. She then explained that he was in atrial flutter and that they would cardio vert him now.

This was performed and when I returned all explained to me as he was still drowsy. They monitored him for a couple of hours and he was discharged. The whole thing was carried out with outmost professionalism and we were delighted with the treatment and attitude of all the staff. Well done.
