"I was left in the waiting room all night"

About: United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust

(as the patient),

Over the weekend I tried to kill myself, unfortunately, I was found by my friends they called an ambulance and took me to the hospital, we were there from roughly 9 that night till 4 in the morning.

I thought my care was awful.  I was incredibly sick from my overdose and emotional and was not treated with any form of kindness I was left in the waiting room all night when I desperately wanted just to lie down.

I filled many sick bowls which no one took from me. We had to keep repeatedly asking. I had loads of tests done with hours of waiting in between each and the last one was 1: 30 am the doctor said he would be back at 2: 30 with my results he never came back.

I felt like no one cared about me, no treated me with anything like kindness or human decency and after trying to kill myself I just at least wanted to lie down.

Dear Skittykat,

I am so very sorry to hear about your experience and can't begin to imagine how you must have been feeling, please accept my apologies.

Please could you email PALS@ulh.nhs.uk or contact them on 01205 446244 and tell us a little more about yourself so we can track back and understand what happened and why.

Your feedback is very important to us and we need to be able to liaise with the department and the staff concerned. If you feel unable to give full details, or speak in person to PALS, could you perhaps confirm which hospital and which day for us so we can at least share your feedback with the team members on duty at that time.

More importantly, I am concerned about how you are feeling right now and I would encourage you to seek support. There are a number of ways you could do this:

Contact your GP who may be able to help you or signpost you to the help you need Visit: http://www.lpft.nhs.uk/suicidesafe which explains how to get help and support locally in Lincolnshire Maybe talk to the Samaritans on 116 123? If you are already seeing a psychiatrist, psychologist or community psychiatric nurse then please contact them and tell them how you are feeling.

I hope this helps. Again I am very sorry for your experience but hope you could get in touch and let us know a little more so we can ensure we put things right.

Jennie Negus

Deputy Chief Nurse
