My mother was admitted initially to the medical assessment unit after taking an intentional overdose after wanting to end her life due to suffering with health problems and drug dependency.
I called the ward to check how she was doing and spoke to a nurse who wasn't very helpful and I asked if the mental Heath team would be seeing her... The nurse was very abrupt!
My mother was then transferred to ward 216 where the nurses were lovely and compassionate.
After waiting to see the mental Heath team and seeing various members of the liason team she was discharged back home with no follow up, advised to see GP on a Saturday evening.
I feel the mental health team let people down in Derby, especially the uncaring liason team. I know they are under pressure with beds and resources but it's terrible.
Why was my mother allowed home after taking a large overdose and wanting to end her life?
Where is the care? Compassion? Dignity?
My mother has drug issues and mental health problems but the team just want to pass the book and say it's drug problems? They don't seem to link the two together?
Why is nothing being done to help people?
I honestly feel at my wits end!!!
Shocking! As per
"Mental health team"
