"A&E waiting time"

About: Ealing Hospital / Accident and emergency

My wife was admitted to a&e at 1.15 am by ambulance after she had collapsed. The paramedics said that she wad dehydrated. She was not given a bed untill after she had to lay down on the floor. Then after a wait of an hour a nurse took some blood and left a line in for a drip. She then was put into another room. No one came and saw her for another 2 hours and this was only to take her blood pressure. I repeatedly asked when she would be seen by a doctor but kept getting the same response for the disinterested night staff. She was then wheeled to yet another room and again we waited for a doctor. Around 8.00 there was a shift change. This seemed to spark some life into our situation. Eventually a doctor came at 8.30 and immediately said she needed to be on a drip, which was done. After having a CT scan we finally left at 12.00. The service we received was despicable night staff just wandering around not communicating with any one. I would never go to this place again.

Dear Sir

I was very sorry to learn of your wife's experience during her recent admission to the Emergency Department at Ealing Hospital.

This will be shared with the senior management team for the Emergency Department so that they are aware of the delays your wife endured during the night before the shift change in the morning.

I am very grateful to you for letting us know of your concerns - all feedback that we receive helps us to form a general picture of the service we are providing in the Emergency Department.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience and I sincerely hope that your wife is feeling much better now following her discharge.

Kind regards

Peter Hare

Patient Liaison Manager
