My Mum is presently in a Hospital for rehabilitation after a very bad fall in her house.
I have been visiting her for the last 6 weeks in Coathill Hospital ( North Lanarkshire ). My Mum has been very fortunate in that both my sister and I have been able to visit ...however I am very aware of the many elderly in the ward ..that don't have people visiting them on the same level...staff I can see try and interact when they have time ..but are constantly being stretched.
I have worked in Early Years for many years and see the huge benefits of bringing the elderly and the very young together. There are so many nurseries that could be approached and for a little time in the day the elderly and the very young could come together ..both can benefit from similar activities and the great therapeutic value of sharing these experiences ..I attach this link from a great initiative called present perfect which could easily be cascaded out in some form to homes, rahab centres ..making such a difference ..please take a look at this link which only lasts 5 minutes https: //www. youtube. com/watch? v=6K3H2VqQKcc
This is very possible to implement!
