"Gynaecology outpatients"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I recently had a positive experience in June 2017 in Day surgery wishaw general. I received my gynaecology outpatient appointment yesterday for March 2018. I initially thought it was an error, however this appointment was confirmed after contacting the department who did did however add me onto the cancellation list. I was advised that this was the first available appointment. I find this a major concern not just for myself but also for other women within Lanarkshire. I feel that an urgent review is required in order that service needs can be met.

Dear Linda7287

I am pleased to hear that your previous experience in Day Surgery was a positive one.

I am however sorry to hear that the waiting time for follow up was not communicated or discussed following your treatment and therefore came as a surprise – I shall address this within the department.

I can assure you that we are working hard to reduce all waiting times and strive to provide the shortest times possible.

I am pleased that you have been added to the cancelation list and trust that the rest of your experience is a positive one.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention

Gordon Bryan

Update posted by Linda7287 (the patient)

I was advised by the consultant that the out patient follow up would be several months later, however I do not feel that 9 months later is an appropriate time for review (not just for myself, but for people in general)

I feel there is definitely a need for waiting times to be reviewed
