"Misdiagnosis of bowel blockage"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as the patient),

Started as what I believed to be vomiting bug. Out of hours doctor attended & diagnosed gastro enteritis. 24 hours later Gp called and attended. vomitting and diarrhoea had stopped 25 hours previously but still gave me anti nausea medication .. surgeon says by this point it should have been clear I had a bowel blockage. 

Stomache cramp continued for another 48 hours and eventually Gp agreed to ambulance.

Arrived at hospital and infection markers in blood were over 600( they highest they had ever saw )... it was then discovered 2/3 of my lower intestine was dead and an emergency op was carried out resulting in a stoma, massive scar and a month in hospital. was told by surgeons that I was not expected to live..

I have a rare disorder they have discovered .. I have been attending gp for over 12 months with misdiagnosis and markers in blood tests getting dismissed. this could all have been avoided.. I have now lost my business as well as my bowel & have a couple of years of recovery ahead.. this has to be learned from..

A verbal complaint has already been made.. unfortunately I have been admitted to hospital again and have been unable to supply a written complaint .
