"The way I was treated ie with ..."

About: Basildon University Hospital

What I liked

The way I was treated ie with respect and compasion by all the staff in A&E and on the ward when I was transferred up there. They listened to me and gave me time. I have quite complex health problems and despite the fact they were very busy in A&E I was given time and full attention and allowed to explain my health problems and my condition, I didn't feel rushed and all the staff I came into contact with were very kind and caring.

What could be improved

More comfortable chairs for friends and relatives waiting instead of the hard plastic ones.

Keeping the patient better informed of test results as you have blood taken for a blood test then you seem to be left for ages with no updates or information.

Anything else?

I was rushed to Basildon A&E by ambulance suffering with chest pains and I can't praise the staff enough for the way I was treated. The paramedics were wonderful, professional but kind and friendly too calming me down, helping me, treating me, doing lots of tests and reassuring me.

When we arrived in A&E they made sure I was booked in and they reassured me and wished me well as they left. The staff in A&E were excellent, very efficient, kind and caring too, I was treated very well and was given something to eat and drink as soon as I was allowed. Every kind of test was done to find out the cause of my problem too they were very thorough.

I was eventually transferred to Frank Ahrens ward and kept in overnight for observation and again I was treated very well, every nurse and doctor on that ward was kind, caring, friendly, reassuring from the moment I arrived, they all seemed to genuinely work well together, they communicated well, the ward had a friendly atmosphere, it looked and smelt clean and speaking from personal

experience I can't fault my treatment or the staff - that includes the paramedics, the staff in A&E and the staff on the ward. logo
