From the minute I entered hospital reception I was made to feel welcome. (Including my visit to Pre-Assessment Clinic, SCN Margaret McAlpine and Clerkess Pauline's input the week before)
On entering day bed unit the domestic Claire was friendly and clearly keeping the unit spotless. Receptionist Sandra also welcoming.
Day Bed Nursing staff - SCN Bernie, CN Christine, 'MY' Staff Nurse Denise and her colleagues S/N's Yvonne, Anne and Evelyn and HCAs Vivienne and Jacqueline and student nurse Raf were extremely professional, welcoming and knowledgeable but more importantly, supportive, friendly and caring. NOTHING was too much trouble, from admission process through to discharge instructions and information.
Physio Nicky, Mr Bell, Dr Brett and Theatre Staff - Student Nurse Gillian, John, S/N Heather and their colleagues who I don't recall seeing due to anaesthesia were also equally approachable and professional.
My experience should be what everyone expects AND receives.
Not enough is mentioned of patients good hospital/NHS experiences and I feel the need to highlight mine.
I felt cared for, and more importantly safe throughout my short stay.
Superb care and professionalism from admission to discharge, oh and great cups of tea too.
Thanks SDBU and all VOLH staff.
