What could be improved

I was absolutely disgusted by the way my case has been handled! I have had excrutiating pain in my back for four months and can barely work. A month ago I was in a&e because they suspected equina syndrome. Spent the whole day the're with a specialist who explained that I need an urgent spinal clininc appointment and MRI scan. I am assuming urgent means that the refferal get's lost and you have to wait a month before getting an appointment! Brilliant I thought, today is the day i find out what exactly is wrong. Nope. just a complete waste of time, having exactly the same visual examination that i have had on numerous occasions and the doctor saying that he will refer me for an MRI scan. "Oh good, Now? " I ask. "No, we think that you should spend another 6 weeks on opiates before you can have an MRI and then you can wait another 3 weeks on opiates before getting an appointment with me" Great another 2 months in absolute agony when the last doctor could have given someone else my appointment and just reffered me to mri in the first place. What a complete waste of time and i shall be putting in an official complaint!

We're sorry that your experience of the care provided through the QEII was not good, but we are pleased that you will be making an official complaint. This is for thre reasons: 1) an explanation of what happened and why is what you need; b) if you have been let down, then you deserve an official apology and c) any lessons learnt can be applied to make the service better for all our patients.
