My partner's 87 year old grandmother was admitted with a suspected stroke on Thursday. She was seen by a doctor and told that she had indeed suffered a minor stroke. This lady struggled to cope before the stroke and lives alone. Unbelievably she was discharged the same day back to her flat and left to get on with her life. She was told that an ambulance would pick her up the following day at 9.45am to attend the stroke clinic. The ambulance arrived at 11.45am after the clinic had closed and another appointment was made for the following Monday. Why was this woman discharged? Why could she not be given a bed for the night so that she could attend the clinic on time and receive the scans that she needs? You ought to be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves and the uncaring manner in which you have treated this woman. Rest assured that her MP will be informed of this scandalous and incompetant treatment.

What could be improved

The hospital could be closed down for starters. The staff involved could be sacked. If this seems a little harsh then that is because everyone involved is very angy indeed.
