"Thank you to the incredible birth centre team!"

About: St Mary's Hospital (HQ) / Maternity care

We are delighted (and lucky) everything went well, and clearly the whole birth centre team ensured that it was a success. From the preparation in the ANC class to the day after the birth when we went home.

I think the most important thing my wife and I will remember for a long time is the constant support, and even though it is their daily job and see many births, they are just as enthused as we are and make it feel like they are lucky to be there! It makes a huge difference.

Thank you to the receptionist for picking up the phone numerous times and patiently answering our questions and evaluating whether the time was right.

Thank you to the two midwives, for receiving us after 24h of latent labour, when we were starting to get tired, comforting us, and giving my wife the strength and confidence to go back home and be patient until later in the night.

Thank you to another two midwives, who received us at 3am in the morning, who settled and comforted my wife in the pool and guided her steadily through the final contractions.

Thank you to the midwife who joined in the final minutes and being soothing and directive in what needed to be done.

Thank you to the midwifes for all of the support after the birth, the support and helping patiently in the first steps of breastfeeding.

So, thank you for the constant smiles, support and professionalism, our child came to the world with great people around him. What you are doing makes a huge difference, keep it up!!
