About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

What I liked

I entered A &E with a potentially life threatening condition and was was treated in the 12 hours I was in hospital with the highest standard of care. Fortunately the condition turned out to be nothing major but it was taken seriously and the high level of intervention, investigation and care was something I will always remember and be thankful for. Right from the moment the paramedics came to my home to the time I entered A & E I was treated with the utmost of respect. I was amazed had the thoroughness of treatment and the whole experience left me confident of the NHS and Frimley Park Hospital. Every member of staff worked together as a team and I felt carried and supported in the whole process, which for me was totally new and initially bewildering, though for them was routine

and one of so many cases that day.

I can only be grateful for for the time and resources spent on me.

What could be improved

I think that it is so important to keep informing the patient about the reasons for waiting. Initially the doctor who was treating did this excellently but when he went off of duty the high standard of communication dropped. In the observation ward it would have been useful to have some magazines and books available.

Also the doctor who gave me the results of the CT scan and discharged me had poor interpersonal skills. The doctor who had been treating me was great but this final doctor was poor in his explanations and in his advice. When he took my lines out of each arm he rushed and was very poor in carrying out the procedure with one arm leaking profusely of blood to be followed later with the other arm. He really was quite unprofessional. If I had had him at the start I would have had no confidence during my treatment.

I also noticed that nurses had little respect for training doctors and failed to show any willingness to train them. It appeared that relationship between the two was not one of mutual respect.

Also in A & E the nurses had to mutli-task with so many things they forgot to do the things that the doctors had asked them to do.

Anything else?

Just well done A & E staff - on the whole you were brill. I am proud of you and thank you.
