"A smooth journey. The care was second to none!"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Bones, joint and fractures Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Day surgery

(as a relative),

I am writing this on behalf of my gran who was admitted last week for an elective total hip replacement and stayed in Ward 10A. Although it took us six months to get to the surgery date once we arrived on Thursday morning for surgery the journey was flawless from there on. We were taken into surgical same day admissions where the staff were both friendly, helpful and supportive to my grans needs and really helped alleviate her anxiety.

We then met with the consultant Mr Marsh who was fantastic throughout and always reassured my gran and made sure she fully understood all aspects of the surgery. After this we met the anaesthetist who was very friendly an really reassured gran prior to surgery. From here we left her to it and from what she told us the theatre team and recovery nurses were fantastic. On arriving to the ward to visit gran we were met with a clean, friendly environment and smiles from the nursing staff. Throughout her stay the nursing staff were fantastic especially Julianne who gran spoke very fondly of, nothing was ever a bother and she really made her stay much easier. The physios and OT staff were also great with her and gave her the encouragement she needed to get moving and on to her recovery.

As a staff nurse within the hospital myself I am extremely proud of the care my gran received and believe the senior charge nurses within the ward have a group of staff who they should be extremely proud of.

Dear Nurserelativ

Many thanks for sharing your Gran’s experience.

I am really pleased to read that the staff were friendly, helpful and supportive to your Gran’s needs at what I am sure was a very worrying time for all of you.

I will share your kind words and comments with the staff in Ward 10A. They will all be delighted to receive your feedback.

I hope that your Gran is recovering well and please pass on my best wishes.

Kind Regards

Nicole
