"My 88 year mother was discharged ..."

About: Warwick Hospital

What I liked

My 88 year mother was discharged from Dugdale Ward at approximatelty 5.00pm on Monday 28th June. I was promised a full home care package by Social Services which included meals on wheels. I was advised she needed an hour in the morning after long discussions I was promised 3/4 of an hour. On Tuesday morning I was informed she was had only been give 1/2 an hour ( the carer stayed for an hour, as it was impossible to do everything in 1/2 an hour) The hospital should have known this. The meals on wheels never turned up. She was sent home with a dressing onher wound & there was no record of this on the discharge sheet, Her drugs were tipped into a huge plastic bag with no instructions on how they should be given, along with some of her belongings, these included a 2 packets of Alendronic Acid on labelled 1 once a week on Mondays and the other 1 once a week on Tuesdays

If she did not have me & a carer with a bit of initiative she would have come home with left dirty, because there was no time to wash her with no hot meal, a dressing that could have stayed on for months and a bag of drugs not being properly administered by anyone. logo

I am sorry to hear that you were not happy with the delivery of care for your mother. After investigating your mothers care in further detail, I would like to personally address your concerns about not only the care received at the hospital but also the delivery of a home care package provided by Warwickshire County Council. Therefore please could you provide me with your full contact details by either writing to me at Warwick Hospital, Lakin Road, CV34 5BW or emailing

Yours faithfully

Glen Burley
