"I had a traumatic hip replacement ..."

About: Fairfield General Hospital

What I liked

I had a traumatic hip replacement and was very anxious as I had not beeni n hospital before. The staff on Wards 8 & 9 were pleasant and efficient. The consultant was kind and reassuring and my aftercare in the physio dept. was excellent.

What could be improved

The discharge procedure was chaotic. I was given very little warning and as the ambulance arrived my belongings were thrown into a plastic bag, I was put in a wheelchair and wheeled out all inside about 2 minutes. It was so sudden that the ambulanceman had to go back for my crutches!

Anything else?

Overall my experience has been very god and reassuring.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your hospital stay, we are pleased you feel overall the experience was very good and your positive comments will be passed onto the appropriate staff.

We are, however, sorry to hear that you had such a different experience when leaving the hospital and we will make sure this is also fed back to the appropriate area.
