"The staff in A & E were very ..."

About: East Surrey Hospital

What I liked

The staff in A & E were very efficient. Although they could have been more informative to myself as the daughter and next of kin waiting!

What could be improved

The nurses 'supposedly' in charge of the AMU ward were so up themselves and just would not answer the most simple questions from myself or my Father. The one nurse 'in charge'! was just soooooo arrogant and totally ignored my Fathers pleas (and mine)for his Ventolin Inhaler which he had been given by the Dr to use when he needed it, was so rude and completely ignored both of us, even though my Father was in such distress!! The information of what exactly was going on and the problems my Father had.

Anything else?

The staff on the ward could have been more informative about the care and problems my Father had. Also answer the simple questions I had as his daughter and next of kin. Also, a very important point.....listen....to my Father (and my comments,) and his simple needs without speaking severley and horribly to the point of ignoring his comments and needs. Hence he was sent home without the vital walking frame he needed and the fact that the home accessor had to spend an hour or two arranging for him to be admitted to another hospital withing an hour of his arriving home as he was not well enough or safe enough to be at home!!!!!

Thank goodness for Dorking Hospital is all I can say, they treated him with the total respect and care he needed right up to the day he passed away......See he was not well enough to go home on his own.
