"Horrible midwife."

About: Newham General Hospital / Maternity care

For my first community midwife appointment at zone 12 maternity booking center, I had a very rude and unpleasant midwife with me. treating me like I am stupid and a pain, when I was not saying anything. You cannot ask any question without being answered on a very unpleasant tone, and on the other hand they were all smiles for their colleagues. At one point I was not even complaining but they misunderstood my question and thought I was and told me that they were understaffed and that they are doing what they can. First I was not even complaining and then, I have heard from NHS this excuse too many times, and everytime from rude staff, so why should I care? you are unpleasant because you are understaffed? Stupid really.

When the midwife said I would have to carry my book with me all the time, because otherwise "they would not see me" I asked "here at the hospital?" they then answered : "even when you go shopping, if something happens and you don't have it, it's your responsibility" on a very sharp tone. If something happens to you and you die, that's your problem. I am sure there are better ways to speak to patients.

When they asked me questions, if I started to answer not directly to the question they would cut me sharp and asked me again the exact same question : "When?" it was a sharp interrogation where you just answer as short as possible, don't tell about your life because they don't care.

Some people make a scandal for being treated like they treated me.

I will certainly go private at some point in pregnancy, and good riddance for them Newham Hospital won't have to bother with yet another pregnant woman they absolutely don't care about.
