"I highly recommend The Melton ..."

About: Melton Mowbray Hospital

What I liked

I highly recommend The Melton Hospital! Reception and Administration staff, Clinic nurses, Day Case Suite and Theatre staff are excellent – very professional, very efficient, with warmth and compassion –perfect tender loving care. Congratulations to you all - I was very well cared for at every stage from appointments to operation with the added bonus of a great Consultant who was able to see me and operate at the hospital itself.

When my doctor referred me to a Consultant I was so relieved to meet them at my local hospital, The Melton. On the 11th March there was a warm and smiling welcome at reception with directions to my waiting area, where I presented my paperwork. I noticed straightaway how clean, fresh and uncluttered the areas are, very well organised. I saw the consultant, lovely gentleperson (I highly recommend them too), who diagnosed my condition which needed an operation under general anaesthetic, and which could be performed in the Day Case Suite theatre at The Melton! The Consultant commented on the wonderful facilites we have at The Melton - through my own experience I entirely agree!

Appoinment over I was directed to the Day Case Suite to book in for my pre-op assessment. On 22nd March I was greeted with great warmth and courtesy and even though staff were very busy they still had time with me to complete the necessary tests and paperwork. On the 1st April, at 1.15, I arrived at the Day Case Suite for my operation to be greeted with reassurance and a nurse to take care of me throughout the whole procedure. With explanations and responses to my questions I was prepared for the operation and made comfortable in a lovely bright, clean and spacious bay. My very kind Consultant met me to explain what was to happen and I was also introduced to the anaesthetist (very nice person, I’m ashamed to say I cannot remember their name) who asked me questions and reassured me all would be well...continued in 'anythin else' box...

What could be improved

Nothing to improve at the Melton except to ensure that there are enough staff to continue this constant excellent good care

Anything else?

...continued from 'what I liked' box...I was wheel-chaired into the theatre accompanied by lovely people who put me at my ease. Again the sparkling, clean environment was very impressive. The next thing I remember is being bed-wheeled back into the bays with soft voices uttering my name. I was monitored at all times while recovering from the general anaesthetic and the Consultant came along to see that everything was as it should be. I received tender, loving care along with a choice of drinks and sandwiches, until I was deemed well enough to be collected and taken home. On 6th May I returned to The Melton for my follow-up appointment with the Consultan and, as before, I was greeted with warmth and courtesy. I must mention too that appointment letters with clear instructions and details arrived swiftly from The Melton and I received reminder texts via my mobile. When I did need to telephone The Melton, the same professionalism, efficiency and courtesy was evident. I cannot put into words the high praise that all personnel involved with The Melton so rightly deserve but I hope that by reading this, patients and staff alike, can get an insight into the constant excellence of staff care in the sparkling clean environment of The Melton.
