Very difficult to give feedback about this service as it does not state on NHS choices for Frimley overall or Wexham that you even provide it! And neither does it mention this on the King Edward VII bit as it is based there even though Frimley manage the service!
I had to go back to the Parapet for an additional screening appointment today following some concerns from my initial mammogram. So - like most of the women there - I had been feeling scared half to death for the three long weeks between the initial mammogram, the letter telling me I need to come back for more tests and the today's appointment.
Three weeks is a very long time when you are basically waiting to know if you have cancer or not - can this really not be shortened? When was the last time this process was mapped and looked at in great detail? We are all asked to give our contact number for results so why not call us rather than leave us to receive a letter by post which will inevitably cause further delay? You could always ask us for our email address and email a letter to us plus leaflet to follow on from the phone call? I'm sure I speak for many women when I say that anything you can do to reduce this very long wait would be much appreciated.
Once there the service is superb - lots of very kind, friendly staff, from reception onwards, the radiographers and the radiologist. Everything was explained to me at the ultrasound stage and the mammograms reviewed in detail with me so I could understand what the concerns had been. For me the news was good so I am mightily relieved and feel very fortunate.
Well done to all of those who lead, manage and work in the Parapet - you provide a wonderful service and it is much appreciated.
If you could just please explore the timeline of reporting and communicating with your patients and reduce this as mentioned above, that would take you from Good to Outstanding in my opinion as both a patient and also as a senior nurse and specialist advisor to the CQC.
