"Transfer from delivery suite to D10 and..."

This complaint is on behalf of my daughter Nicola

Following the an epidural and birth of my 3rd grandson, the midwife needed to take their break after a long labour, promising to come back a sort out my daughter prior to transfer to the ward.

My daughter was left with a leaking venflon and a full catheter bag.

She was then transferred to D10 where she was moved to a bed where wires were showing and the porter stated that this bed should not be in use!

There was no crib, the buzzer was out of reach and my daughter was left without communication, she had to ask another patient to summon help for her

A member of staff then arrived to look under the covers to find a 3 litre catheter bag full, a leaking venflon and a very wet mommy.

After finally being sorted her venflon was removed only to be replaced a short time later because she required IV abx

The next day at 11 am she was told she could go home, at 4 pm her husband akesd what was going on regarding discharge, as she had 2 under 5's she was getting a little concerned about, suddenly she was seen.

Having got to the car with baby they were chased by a member of staff to say that the baby had not had his neonatal check!

6 pm baby checked and finally discharged without TTO's

Finally got home, prescription not ready finally collected on Saturday morning 36 hours after discharge...no wonder antibiotics do not work effectively!

I feel that the whole transfer/discharge policy is an absolute shambles, and in my daughters words D10 has let the whole of the maternity services down

I have made these concerns known, because after the treatment or lack of it I feel that managers need to know that this shoddy practice is going on,
