"That my son was born healthy and ..."

About: Queen Charlotte's Hospital

What I liked

That my son was born healthy and safely.

What could be improved

Everything from the first booking appointment through to discharge.

Anything else?

I have to agree with most of the other comments. The receptionists are all rude and abrupt. I didn't receive blood test results when I was anaemic, despite being assured that I would be notified if there was anything abnormal.

I was induced, wasn't given any information about what it would entail, never saw the same Dr or midwife twice, none of them seemed to know what I had already had done and what was to be done next.

When labour started I was offered paracetamol and my husband was not allowed in because visiting hours had finished. I wasn't allowed to remain in the position that was most comfortable during labour.

Immediately after birth, post epidural, epsiotomy, catheter in, drip in I was told that we were off and to get myself showered, I could barely walk.

No advice on breast feeding despite requesting it. Left in bloody bed until I left hospital. My sons weight on discharge was written in his red book, despite the fact he wasn't weighed.

I work for the NHS, this trust nonetheless, so, have an idea of what is right and wrong in the treatment of patients. What I experienced does not come close to what that should be.

I was thoroughly disappointed with the whole thing, and as others have mentioned what should have been a joyful occasion was overshadowed by the appalling treatment given by this hospital.

I would not hesitate to not recommend this hospital. I am also disappointed by the thoughtless comments given by Imperial NHS trust to the complaints, and it would seem that those praising the hospital get more responses.

I shall be contacting PALS with a more detailed complaint.
