"Escoting patients to activity sessions in the sports hall"

About: St Andrew's Healthcare Birmingham / Hurst

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

We have an activity co-ordinator in Birmingham who has started to provide lots of activities for patients in the sports hall. The sessions are really good but there are a lot of times when the patients can't go to the sessions because there are not enough escorts. We think this is unfair.

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad that you are finding the events fun and interesting, it was our aim to have more leisure activities at evenings and weekends.

I am aware that there are some issues around ensuring that there are enough staff to escort everyone that wants to go, and we are working with the wards to ensure that they are planning for the events in advance. I will take your comment to the Events Coordinator and the Nurse Managers to ensure that they are prioritising these events, and developing solutions to ensure that everyone who wants to attend, can attend.

Paula is always keen to hear about suggestions for future activities so please let her know if you have any good ideas.
