Following an eye scan and digital photos my Consultant advised me to have my cataracts removed, I reluctantly agreed but before having the first operation I was petrified due to the risks, as I suffer from Retinitis Pigmentosa and am very short sighted, my vision made it look like I was in a constant fog. In January 2017, I had the first cataract removed from my right eye and short sightedness corrected, the level of care at the Rochdale Eye Clinic was fantastic all the team were brilliant and I can’t thank them enough – I don’t know why I was worried in the first place. My sight from the day after the procedure was amazing, being able to see details and things clearly, I couldn’t believe it! I had my left eye done by the same surgeon in March 2017, once again the team were equally as brilliant, wonderful, and caring.

It’s made such a difference to my confidence and life, just everyday things that people take for granted such as being able to see door handles, I am now not relying on people and get out and about independently, safely and meet new people, even going shopping on my own. I hope my story helps others who maybe debating having cataracts removed. Both eyes are equally as good and I don’t now have to wear glasses, which is very strange but good.
