The NHS says that for 9/10 of patients a wait of up to 17 weeks to be seen by the ENT department at Heartlands Hospital is normal. Try actually waiting 6 months for a 10 minute audiological test to check hearing levels and a few minutes with the consultant and then waiting a further two months for a simple hearing aid fitting appointment. I am still waiting for this, since August I have had hearing problems it's been so long now that the hearing has worsened since and my quality of life has been greatly affected. Then they don't even tell you that you have to book your own appointment with the Hearing Centre to get the Aid, so for several weeks I waited for the appointment letter in the post to arrive that never did so I phoned ENT who told me to phone the Hearing Centre and weeks later I was finally given the appointment. So basically end of September-end of May just for a hearing aid on the NHS.
