"Tympanomastoidectomy ossiculoplasty"

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

I was admitted via day procedure on 28th april for tympanomastoidectomy.. upon entering theatre my surgeon realised this was not only to be above op as I needed complete rebuild of ear bones resulting in additional surgery being required within same operation.. they carried this out and I was taken to recovery then to ward where my bp was very low.. I was given hourly obs and necessary pain relief and after review next day which included full details of work done and reasons I was allowed home with full instructions on care and things to avoid and watch out for.

From the very first good morning from a cheerful day procedure receptionist, right through to being booked in by a happy smiling nurse, meeting and speaking to my surgeon, escorted to theatre by a lovely reassuring person, being put to sleep by three funny anaesthetist and staff, waking up with a caring recovery gentleman, delivered to ward by a lovely lively porter and then being cared for on 8d by the most amazing nurses, auxilary, doctors my hospital stay was calm and very unstressful.. I was never made to feel like a annoyance or a burden and was treated with respect and consideration esp as I could barely hear with my hearing aid unoperated ear.. I would highly recommend calderdale to anyone asking about hospital and would definately travel from bradford again to be treated there.. thank you for making an unpleasant op seem so serene..
