What I liked

Care Assistants were friendly!

The School was very accomodating!

What could be improved

THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE! A&E Nurse was friendly & helpful but the Dr in A&E didn't tell us anything except my daughter needed to go to Harvey Ward..next thing we knew a Porter was wheeling us to Xray for her to have a chest Xray we had no knowledge of!

On Harvey Ward there were some nice Nurses but others who made us feel we were using up a bedspace unnecessarily and were wasting resources!

We had at least 3 different Dr's/Consultants so no continuity of care and they discussed my daughter infront of us...there was no agreement on her treatment, one Dr said she wanted my daughter to have a Heart Scan and an EEG Brain Trace.. (to see why she had 2 episodes of "fainting" with Jerky arm movements then came round with Blue Lips, Breathless and a racing Heartbeat (One at Home, one on the ward dring the night after being admitted!)

Then decided not needed - it was a very common & normal "Fainting Episode" & the other Symptoms were Panic Attacks...They couldn't explain the reason her heart rate was racing and Blood Pressure Fluctuating from very Low to Very High whilst she was asleep but eventually said she maybe having a Nightmare......They also said it could be associated with the M.E/CFS she has had for 2 years, although having researched this myself I have found it is not an associated symptom!

It was one of the worst experiences I have ever had in a hospital ....I felt like they thought my daughter had Munchausens and I had Munchausens by Proxy! The Consultant that discharged her said "I have no interest in your daughters condition (meaning the M.E) so I do not wish to see her in any of my Clinics"

A different Dr came to take bloods before she was discharged, I told her my concerns & disgust, she said "I cannot over rule a consultant" I explained the M.E Consultant had retired so no-one was now looking after my daughter and she said "You were lucky to have that consultant, M.E is a condition that is not recognised or even believed by most Paediatric Dr's here...

Anything else?

On Harvey Ward, when she fainted again and she was jerking her left arm..I couldn't get to her "Buzzer" cos she was lying on me, and we hadn't been given it,it was attached to the wall still,it was 1.00 am so couldnt shout as kids all asleep on ward so had to wait till she came round then went to tell nurse, they called Dr n they attached Heart Monitor to her which went off every 15 mins through night cos heart racing - when she was fast asleep it was 205 beats per miniute and her Blood Pressure was taken every 2 hours and it was fluctuating from 138/72 down to 80/40!!! (I imagine this isn't right for an 11 year old girl?)She also had Blurry vision and headache all time!

After all this they discharged her after 48 hours without further investigation and have referred her to a CAMHS team to see a psychiatrist! She is still unwell and I don't know what to do next...

Good Hope have failed my daughter and I will not be going there for further treatment!
