"Privacy & Dignity"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Attended my appointment recently.

At chipstead clinic to see Dr hich is Very Good. Excellent Doctor.

But it's about the health care assistant who attended me. I was attended immediately as soon as I arrived in the desk. Took her folder then headed to the ECG room instructed me to follow her, she instructed me to take off my clothes including bra as I understand because of the machine wire need to be connected on me.

Now, what my cc complaints is, Even I did ask if I could use the hospital gown beside the bed ? She replied me that I am a woman! The door was locked, but before that she close the window but not the curtain. Consider that the window was shaded, no one could ever see me from outside. . She instructed me to lay down in The examining table with out my bra. She did not even used the blue divided privacy curtain, or partition curtain to gave me privacy in case someone will enter the room. when the 1st ECG machine not working, She opened the door. Leave me half body naked with the door unlocked out & in the room. I would like to tell her

But I tried to control myself to make a scene. But I went home very upset. I feel that I Was discriminated. I try to hold my anger just because she is older than me. But when I'm home, until now, . I can't convince myself to keep quite. I keep asking, how many patient that she will be attended to have the same treatment as I have. ..

Dear Bert Mac,

Thank you for sharing your story. Your experience has fallen well below what we expect, so please accept our apologies for the way your ECG was carried out. I am grateful to you for bringing this to our attention and it's important that we look into the issues you raise in greater detail so that we can address them for both you and future patients. To do this we will need a little more detail from you, so could you email Lisa Jones, the matron for outpatients. Lisa's email address is: lisa.jones22@sash.nhs.uk

Once again please accept our apologies, carrying out a test like this should not leave a patient feeling so upset or angry.

With best wishes,

Cathy White
