I visited the Endocrinology consultant and was advised to take medication at 10 pm and go for a blood test at 9 am the following morning ( which was a Saturday). The consultant assured me that
SDQ sticker on my blood request would guarantee my blood test - no appointment necessary.
I attended the clinic early as wanted to ensure my test would be for 9 am. The receptionist was totally belligerent and informed me that it could not be done. I explained the consultants advise and that I had taken the medication - to no avail. The receptionist was rude and informed me that the advise from my consultant was incorrect and the 'managers' were all aware?? There was no one availabke to do the test, they were fully booked. The waiting area had 3 people waiting?
Having paid for my prescription, travelled to Basildon Hospital and my husband taking the morning off work this was not the outcome I was expecting. It is incredulous that this can happen. The receptionist is obviously in the wrong proffession and/ or requires training to teach them some interpersonel skills!
