"The dental practioners and support ..."

What I liked

The dental practioners and support staff put patients - in this case my daughter - at her ease.

What could be improved

The case managment system. My daughter was referred to the dental hospital by our own dentist 4 yrs ago when she was 11. From the outset we were told she would need years of treatment including Orthodontic work and she was seen in Ortho dept over 2 yrs ago. Still waiting for treatment to start - apparently she has only been on a waiting list for a year and won't get an appt until later this year. Cannot understand why she has been put on the list at such a late stage - the treatment requirements are as advised 4 yrs ago. She will be almost 16 before her lengthy treatment is even started.

Thank you for your comments and I am sorry that your daughter has had a long wait for treatment. It is not possible to comment on your daughter's individual experience without more information and it would be unhelpful to make any assumptions at this stage. However we are confident that the waiting list management is organised to ensure the best clinical pathway for patients and we would be happy to look at the reasons for your daugher's long wait. If you would like your daughter's individual case to be investigated please contact Alison Last, Head of Patient Experience on 0121 442 3311 or alternatively you may wish to email alison.last@sbpct.nhs.uk to give the necessary additional information. Thank you.
