"Communication with maternity physiotherapy"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as the patient),

I am in the early stages of my pregnancy and have been suffering from lower back pain. I checked through my maternity notes and info given to me by the midwife and contacted the text service and was a bit disappointed by the response.

After giving a brief description of my symptoms and information asked for. I did get a prompt response that simply read “added to waiting list”. I was a bit confused by this as my midwife had told me someone would contact me to ask for more information.

I wasn’t sure what to do next as I thought this might be an automated service but I text again asking how long the waiting list was and got the response “2-3 weeks”. I was in a lot of pain and felt that I couldn’t wait that long so made a private appointment, but I was more disappointed by the vague response that left me unsure of what to do.

I have since received my appointment through the post and again the information is limited. There is no hospital name on the letter only a black and white picture of a hospital, which after googling I think is Wishaw General. There is no information as to where the department is located in the hospital or a contact telephone number should I need to rearrange.

I had read a previous post on patient opinion of this service and had seen that changes had been to improve information given to patients. I feel this doesn’t seem to be the case.
