"i was somewhat surprised that ..."

What could be improved

i was somewhat surprised that after being refferred to the Dental hospital,i was then told 'sorry we have no appointments available at this time,we will get back to you'.

I have heard nothing since,surely this is not acceptable? even if i have to wait a few months then at least i know i will be seen.
