In my opinion the employees in New Craigs and in Highland Mental Health really need to listen to the patients. Not only that, I feel they need to start listening to each other.
I have been stuck in my flat for ten years now waiting for NHS employee after NHS employee to come, write a report to be filed and go. I have lost ten years of my life in this way which has only made my health worse. Are we not entitled to the best possible health? In these years, I have noticed a boom in the number of acronym titled employees, CPNs, CBTs and also the addition of 'Wellness' CD's, none of which has helped my depression or reduced my anxiety levels.
Subsequently I went in to New Craigs, this helped the least. I feel that a psychiatrist is a rare sight in New Craigs so most medical opinions are fundamentally based on nurses.
Emphasis on the 'observations' here because at one point the psychiatrist assigned to me looked at a nurse and asked them how I had been feeling... I found this to be quite disturbing.
I also found it deeply uncomfortable that there was a nurse, the psychiatrist and someoneone else in the room who wasn't even introduced to me. They were furiously writing away and I had no idea who they were; this all made me very anxious.
Nothing came of my stay in New Craigs Hospital and I came out feeling like there was no avenue left to try. I still feel like this. Come on NHS, a feeling of complete worthlessness and helplessness cannot be classed as 'Best possible health'.in my opinion, If you're not part of the solution you're part of the problem they say. No element of a solution was demonstrated to me during my stay in New Craigs.
"Not up to the standard I had expected."
