With great trepidation I headed to the Endoscopy Unit through the Orange Zone. Hate these colours. Got lost x3. Had I been given a Ward No would have found it no problem. Was dreading this procedure but knew that it had to be done. I had had x2 positive faecal occult blood poo stick results so the next step was this procedure to investigate the cause.
The Nurse explained what would happen and put me at my ease. She explained that I would have a bit of a wait & that Mr Alistair McKinlay, the Consultant would be coming to have a chat to me before the procedure.
Mr McKinlay immediately put me at my ease & when called through for the Colonoscopy and introduced his team who were a merry bunch. The Nurses & Mr McKinlay helped me to relax and actually enjoy seeing the procedure on the screen. I can only commend Mr McKinlay and his wonderful team for treating their patients with great dignity & respect. Well done to NHS & ARI for this. We are really very lucky to have this service.
