"Frank Cooksey Rehab Ward"

About: Orpington Hospital

My husband suffered a Stroke and went into Rehab Ward. He was treated well and the staff were plentiful, attentive and did their job well. My husband had no speech so it was very difficult for them. He shouted at them but they kept their cool, tried to work out what he wanted, he certainly tried their patience.

The therapy was second to none, daily visits to the 'gym' where they tried their best to encourage him to exercise, which he loved. Speech therapy was almost daily and again, the patience shown was so good. Occupational therapy was also regular and plenty of encouragement to move his hand and arm himself. They certainly brought him on in his movement, giving him less pain.

The cleanliness was amazing, always someone with a mop! Hand Gel everywhere.

The food was OK, unfortunately he couldn't tell them what he wanted so sometimes left it!

Puddings were geared up to add liquid to his diet which was brilliant as he wouldn't drink! He even ate yogurt - which he never does at home!

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback about your husband's stay on Frank Cooksey. It is such a difficult time so good to hear about some of the things that staff were able to do to support your husband. I hope that your husband is continuing to do well.
