What I liked

Today 26/10/09 I had an appointment with my Specialist Occupational Therapist in the Persistent Pain Service Department, Who has done wonders for me both physically and mentally, I suffer with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Palindromic Rheumatism and Synovitis in nearly all my joints, The PPS has done wonders with helping me to try and control my pain and to live as normal a life as possible, Today I spoke about some kind of aid to help me when walking as my ankles and knee joints cause me a lot of problems when walking so I use a walking stick or crutches, But I now have Nodules growing in or around many of my joints, Elbows, Wrists and Ankles and this makes using a walking stick and normal crutches very uncomfortable to use, So the specialist spoke to a colleague a Physio Therapist who came in to speak to me and then went to look for some thing to help me, Within 5 mins they had returned with a pair of fisher crutches (I Think Thats What She Called Them) Which work wonders and do not press on my Nodules on my elbows thus not causing me anymore pain than I already have, Since I have returned from the hospital I have been using them to get around the house and it will take a bit of time to get used to them, But now I can get around the house a lot better and with no extra pain to my elbows and wrists, Without the PPS I would have had to wait many months to see a Physio Therapist and also suffer a lot more pain while waiting, I would recomend the PPS at Mile End Hospital to any one suffering long term pain, I would also like to take this opportunity to thank them all there for help and care they have given me. Thank You from the bottom of my heart.....

What could be improved

From my point of view nothing needs improving, The PPS is one of the most caring departments I have ever attended.

Anything else?

Keep up the good work and I hope the staff in the PPS is recognised for there hard work and caring attitude which comes across by the bucket full.
