"Nurses were overworked"

About: Florence Nightingale Community Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

At Derby Royal Infirmary I went to the Orthopaedic ward, ward 29. I had a plate placed into my fractured wrist. All of the doctors and the nurses were very caring and informative.

I felt that the nurses were overworked, there was no one to feed the more disabled patients. The food was not good, sometimes it was cold.

I was on the ward with five other women aged from 86 to 98, but I am 67 years of age. Some had dementia or were confused. I was awake all of the night and had to call the nurses frequently as two of the ladies who were very frail kept getting out of bed. One stripped off and wandered about confused, it was often some time before anyone came.

I would like to thank everyone in the clinic.
