What I liked
I have been attending the hospital for the last 18 months and have generally received the good care I expect from the NHS. I have used 3 different depts during this time. The women's health dept were very good but I was then transferred to pelvic surgery and it seemed clear to me that they didn't really work together to get the best outcome for the patient ie me. I was then referred to physio and the care and attention I got there was fantastic. Very helpful, approachable and experienced staff who listened to me and worked with me to achieve a sensible outcome for me as an individual.
What could be improved
Staff motivation and morale in pelvic surgery seems low. It felt like they were going through the motions in terms of pre-clinic checks etc. They were always courteous and polite but not much else. The main issue for me was how often the consultant was late for clinic. The same old excuse was always given - stuck in traffic. Sorry but leave home earlier! Its simply unacceptable for patients to be kept waiting - one offs okay but this is a regular occurance.
