"Overbooking clinics"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

Constantly overbooking the clinic, last few times incurred over 2 hour waiting time, not great, car parking over priced too.

Why overbook? You can only see so many at a time?

Thank you for taking the time to feed back about your recent experience at the ENT department of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. We are sorry that you had to wait over 2 hours for you appointment.

This has been brought to the attention of the senior management team responsible for ENT who advise that they follow strict booking rules for their clinics, but unfortunately sometimes some patients may require more time than others, and this occasionally does mean that the clinics will run later than we would like. Also, as we are a teaching hospital, more junior medical staff sometimes seek a second opinion from a consultant, which can also contribute to any delays. We are reviewing our outpatient clinic schedules to try to improve waiting times for patients while seeing the maximum number of patients possible. If you wish to get in touch so that we can look into your concerns specifically we invite you to please get in touch via the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS). PALS are here to help and can be contacted by phone 0121 371 4400, by email PALS@uhb.nhs.uk, via the hospital website www.uhb.nhs.uk/pals-form or in person by dropping in between 9am – 5pm (Mon-Fri) to the PALS office located near the Information Desk in the main entrance of the new Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
