"Caring and sympathetic help on this journey"

About: Cancer Services Queen Margaret Hospital / Dermatology Victoria Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

Over the past two and a half years I have been unlucky enough to have had three different cancers but have been more than lucky to have been treated by dedicated, caring and expert NHS consultants and their equally hard working teams.

Mr Mitchell,  at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy carried out a Urostomy op and Ms  Munro, Plastic Surgeon, has carried out three day surgery ops including two skin grafts for skin cancer to my scalp at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline and Dr Casasola,  at Ninewells Hospital has followed this with 20 treatments of radiotherapy.

During this time and earlier Dr McLintock, Haematologist has followed up on treatments for non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Each of these Consultants has continued to see me periodically for routine follow-ups. They have explained any treatments fully and given me and my wife the opportunity to discuss any reservations I may have had. I and my wife wish to pass on our grateful thanks to all the above mentioned and their staff for their caring and sympathetic help on this journey and am pleased to say I am feeling well on the way to better health.

Dear swallowcraig

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your health, I am lost for words in terms of commenting on your situation; however I was delighted to hear that you are well on your way to better health now. Feeling confident in those providing treatment and support at such a critical time is so important and I was pleased to hear that staff made both you and your wife feel cared for along the way. I will gladly share your feedback with the appropriate teams and I know this will be much appreciated.

I hope your health continues to improve. Many thanks once again for taking the time to provide your feedback.

Regards

Louise

Dear "swallowcraig"

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of care as a patient at Ninewells Hospital; we are delighted that you are feeling well and on the way to better health.

The multidisciplinary healthcare team within the Oncology and Oncoplastics services are very committed to ensuring that they achieve care that is person-centred, clinically effective and safe, for every person, every time. It is very good to learn that their approach to care reflects their core values of empathy, compassion and clinical excellence. Your comments have been shared with Dr Casasola, and Miss Munro and the clinical team and they very much appreciate that you value and recognise their efforts.

Kind regards.

Wendy Croll
