"I cannot comment on this as I ..."

About: Lymington New Forest Hospital

What I liked

I cannot comment on this as I have been unable to get the treatment I require at present. If you could get through on the phone to the people concerend thyen maybe the comment would be more supportive.

What could be improved

The telephone system and switchboard are a disgrace. After haning on for 30 minutes I gave up. I then rang again and the main switchboard answered however they put me through to the wrong department, staff there said they could not transfer me. I rang again and before I could stop the telephonist whe put me through to the wrong extension again, this occurred for a third time each time costing me money and not helping my problem.

Anything else?

Blood samples. It used to be so good at the old hospital now you have to make an appointment even when you are at the hospital for a clinic and the consultant wants a blood test you cannot have one straight away. I normally go to Southampton General for blood tests you might have to wait for half an hour but do not have to make an additional trip.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on Lymington Hospital. We are aware that there have been some problems with the booking line and times have been extended to help with this. I am sorry to hear that there are still some outstanding issues. The Outpatients Manager has been made aware of your comments regarding the switchboard. The (phlebotomy) blood taking service was changed to appointments only as a result of patient feedback since many people were unhappy with the long waiting times that occured at peak hours when the old system was in place. Should you wish to discuss this further or if you need any other assistance please contact Customer Services at Lymington Hospital on 01590 663089.
