After waiting for over a month, my husband was finally given an appointment to see a Consultant to discuss is current symptoms.
My husband was admitted to Stepping Hill Hospital on 16th February with a suspected stroke. The doctors confirmed it was not a stroke and diagnosed him with hemiplegic migraine attack.
Since returning home his symptoms have not improved and he continues to struggle with speech, weakness in arm (left side), memory, confusion, pain (left side of face and eye), back pain, facial weakness.
On 28th February my husbands GP referred him to see a neurologist as they were concerned that his symptoms had not improved.
Our appointment with the Consultant was unproductive to say the least. My husband was given the same physical examination as he received at hospital and confirmed it was not a stroke (already knew that one). Told him he would get better in time and was improving. Also informed my husband his speech was due to anxiety, which has since been confirmed as Dysarthria requiring weekly sessions for this disorder (nothing to do with anxiety)! We were made to feel that nothing was wrong with my husband and our consultation was a complete inconvenience to the Consultant. No further tests arranged and zero support given, other than to refer my husband to a Psychologist if his symptoms did not improve...really?
All our anticipation for the right care and support had been crushed in 10 minutes by someone with zero concern for my husbands health.
