We would like to thank all the staff at Leighton Hospital for the outstanding level of care we have received over the past several months.
My wife was diagnosed with AMD several months ago and has been attending that clinic on a monthly basis, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 8 weeks ago and am totally amazed by the speed at which things have happened since.
Then Saturday last (25th February) my wife woke up at 2am with chest pains, initially thought to be indigestion, and we contacted the 111 service at about 3am, following which, an ambulance was at our door in less than 10 minutes with full equipment, the crew decided she needed taking to Leighton hospital, where she arrived before 5.30am. After taking blood tests and being seen by a doctor, who decided she was OK to go home, we were back home by 7.30am. On Monday (27th Feb) she was contacted by the heart clinic to say there had been a cancellation and could she attend three hours later, which she did.
Yesterday (7th March) I attended the Michael Heal unit to get the results of my various tests and as a result I had a catheter inserted.
Throughout all this we have been most impressed by the efficiency, helpfulness and courtesy of everyone we have seen, we do not recognise the health service as portrayed nightly on BBC TV news.
We have also had occasional cause to use the services at Leighton over the past ten years or so, and have never had anything but first class care, and our recent experiences confirm our impression that Leighton is an outstanding hospital.
"Not like the NHS portrayed by the BBC"
